it's not exactly a sacrifice

My stepmama brought me this beautiful orchid the other day, along with these famous last words: "Don't worry, you won't kill it."

On her way out she saw my copy of Behind the Scenes at the Museum sitting on the table and asked if I was embarrassed to have been reading the same book for nearly the entire life of this bl*g. But I gave up shame for Lent, which seemed like a much better idea than giving up sweets or drinking (the grump factor would have been off the CHARTS).
