new mexico

We went on a field trip yesterday, first to a spa in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, where we soaked in soda, iron, arsenic, and, um, lithium, then to the Taos pueblo, and finally into Taos, where the highlights included (1) paying a hotel clerk $3 to escort us to a back room where she pulled a curtain to reveal nine naughty D.H. Lawrence paintings, and (2) green chile, margaritas, and country music at the Taos Inn.

You can look at pueblo photos here and skip the otherwise mandatory vacation slide show when I get home. They're mostly of dogs...

and doors.

The best part of the whole place was the one thing we weren't allowed to photograph, the interior of the church, but someone apparently disregarded the many warnings not to take pictures, and you can get an idea of what it looks like here.

  1. So did you get any fresh baked bread?? And tell us about the lovely artists in the group photo. I was struck by the Abe look-a-likes but all the photos were fabulous. New Mexican pueblos, margaritas and church...sounds like the perfect day to me!
