iPoop

When the yachtsman rules the world, peace will prevail on Earth. The space shuttle program will resume, and there will be free beef jerky for all. In addition to a chicken in every pot, there will be an iPad in every lap.

Personally, I'll miss book covers.

Images are from the Book Cover Archive.

We'll all be reading text on back-lit screens and reminiscing about brick-and-mortar bookstores, with their funny shelves full of bound paper and chairs for homeless people to nap on. Luddites like myself will browse the Book Cover Archive and try to remember what it felt like to turn a page.

O books, how we shall miss thee.

  1. Does the Yachtsman have an iPad yet?

  2. No, he's still in the covet-thy-neighbor's [I'm looking at you, William]/talk-about-it-all-the-time/prepurchase phase.

  3. I'm with you, reading books means reading books, not reading a screen. It's a sad state of affairs this e-reader business.

  4. I don't know, on the one hand I'm with you ladies, I'm a lover of the printed word, but then, on the other hand, when I think about what computers did for porn--I have a very open mind about it.

  5. I'll never abandon books for my shiny new toy - but I'll tell you this, I just might abandon everything else in my life! What with books on the one hand and my ability to hold the GFD universe in my other, who needs. . .well. . .what else is there?

  7. Q, while you may be a consumer of both literature and porn, your vocation is writing, not porn stardom (as far as I know), so please prioritize appropriately.

William, abandoning just about everything else in life is what I'm worried about if the y-man buys an iPad -- I can barely compete with that effing phone.

    Nice sign, Lucky.
