you may say it's hoarding, but i call it being prepared, like a girl scout. a girl scout who is trying to earn her merit badge in hoarding.

What I brought to my one-day-a-week job for lunch today. And by lunch I mean

lunch,

afternoon snack,

Fruit and yogurt

dinner,

A roasted-vegetable tart I plan to tell you about later this week, assuming I make it out of here alive.

dessert,

and midnight snack.

You may laugh, but if the apocalypse occurs while I'm at my one-day-a-week job and we are all trapped indefinitely in this office, my coworkers will be forced to live off the rotten leftovers polluting the staff fridge while I eat...well, nothing, because my food will be gone well before Armageddon and, come hell or high water, I am not touching anything in that nasty-ass refrigerator. Next week I think I'll supplement my lunch spread with MREs and powdered milk. Just in case.

  1. That all looks delicious! What time should I swing by for lunch, afternoon sanck, dinner, dessert, and midnight snack? That's right. I'm coming for all you got!! By the way...I know someone who works for the Girl Scouts. I'll see what I can do about hooking you up with a badge. Good luck!!

  2. Oh my stars, what do you drive these days, a freakin' clown car? How'd you haul all that in one trip???

(Apologies, by the way, to His Momma, Lucky Lady (nee Mojie), and M. Labee, for my failure to comment on your recent guest blogs. I have been on a mountain in rural Tennessee for the past month and have only just returned to the delights of bacon fat and pupcakes. Yum, yum, yum. MOIST MOIST MOIST.)

  3. I want you to start making my food to take to work. What will that take?

Q- Have I done something to upset you? MY god! Calling me out on the names AND moisting at me in the same blog comment?

  4. Lucky Lady, not to worry, I only moist at those I, ahem, love.

  5. I absolutely love that J and LuckyLady are using "moist" as a verb now. It just keeps getting better and better.

  8. M. LaBee, there's a whole *list* of merit badges I'd like, if you could put in a good word for me. Because that's how merit badges work, right? Nepotism?

Q, please stop moisting and finish the bird.

    Mojie: Moist.

    Hi, Face!

Beets from the garden! I'm jealous. I hope you enjoy the salad, Erinn -- today in a fit of laziness I skipped the greens and cheese and started dipping dressed beets directly in the almond butter. It was like a candy bar, but with vegetables.

  9. Kate, I feel happy and somehow more at peace knowing that you travel with adequate provisions. Never mind those who would call this overkill ... you can just never be too prepared.
