highs & lows

When I woke up this morning it was 2 degrees. For lunch I ate mac 'n' cheese and a pancake. I've been trudging around the house all day in a head-to-toe fleece ensemble, with a down blanket wrapped around my torso like a towel. This afternoon I boiled a pot of water to alleviate the crucifying dryness in our apartment. On our walk tonight I had to carry the dog the last half mile home because his booties fell off and the salt on the sidewalk hobbles him.

  1. I don't know the official definition of "crucify" but it seems like the sort of thing that dry heat didn't do to Our Saviour. Maybe the southern baptists will picket your funeral too.

When you start your posts with a picture it makes my iPhone icon look nicer and different from day to day so please do that from now on. Colorful pictures are best.

I'll bet your dog hates wearing slippers. You don't hear caveman wiener dogs complaining about salt on their feet. That's why it's called intelligent design.

  2. I may or may not be wearing a camo snuggie right now. And maybe also sweatpants with leggings under them. Let's just say I feel your pain.

lmc, I like to think you were at your office when you posted that comment. And I agree with StephFace: CAMO SNUGGIE! The camo Snuggie is worth the purchase for the box alone (did you notice the photo of the guy duck hunting in his camo Snuggie?).

  4. Alison got it for her 30th birthday this past weekend. Nesta (our pup) promptly stole it, then I stole it from Nesta. Needless to say, poor Alison is chilly, but Nesta and I feel great! And also ready to go hunt ducks while staying cozy.

  5. I may have to move to Vermont. Our congressmen and senators here in Maine, which used to be like Vermont, only flatter with more water, have been absolutely silent on the whole thing.

    The world is mad.
