My boyfriend Mark Bittman told me how. Poke a pinhole in the wide end of an egg, lower it into gently boiling water, and boil for 10-15 minutes (I err on the side of undercooking, around 11 minutes). Remove the egg from the boiling water and plunge into cold running water for 30 seconds, if you want to eat your egg warm, or 2 minutes, if you're going to refrigerate it for later.
